At the meeting with the principals of the schools of Okhtyrka district, Volodymyr Polokhalo called it unallowable to close down the schools without valid reasons and due resolutions of territorial communities. He deems necessary to introduce relevant amendments to the Law "On Education" as regards adherence to special terms whilst closing down the schools, namely, obligatory resolution of a territorial community, provision of pupils with a transport to the nearest school, teachers´ employment, etc.
The Committee Chairman called for public control over certification and assessment of knowledge of the pupils of comprehensive educational establishments, which is envisaged by the Resolution of the Committee of 13 February 2008. He also called for correspondence between the curriculum of secondary educational establishments and requirements for entry into the higher educational establishments.
Volodymyr Polokhalo informed the meeting attendants of the activity of the Committee on Science and Education. Thus, he dwelled on creation of a working group in order to secure equal access to quality education and equal rights of all Ukrainian citizens when entering a higher educational establishment.
